Unpixelate

Unpixelate is a remake of Doctor Entertainment’s first released game Puzzle Dimension and offers 100 challenging 3D puzzles. It was released for iPhones and iPads in January 2015.

Mobile adjustments

The mobile conversion of Unpixelate was done with DeNA as publishers. It features a new graphical style and reworked input controls to suit mobile phones. Many puzzles were redesigned to rely less on timing and fast reactions and instead focus on the puzzles. Some puzzle mechanics, such as the hidden and reverse hidden blocks, were also improved upon.

The blending effect that affected the music in the original was removed due to size limitations. The tutorial puzzles were redesigned and almost all text was removed and replaced with symbols.

What I did on this project

For this project I worked on redesigning puzzles, making sure that all movements and actions worked exactly the same as in the original. I also spent a lot of time to find and report bugs, verify achievements, internally manage the DeNA QA reports and setting up milestones. Unpixelate was the first time I worked on a project that targeted mobile phones, and it was a very interesting experience.
